Over 1,500 Benefit from Rotary, GSPHCDA Free Medical Outreach in Gombe

The exercise was conducted in London Mai Dorawa in Gombe Local Government Area; Kalorgu community, Shamaki ward and Ture Balam in Kaltungo LGA; as well as Liji ward, Gindin Waziri and Ngare community in Zambuk ward of Yamaltu Deba LGA.

The initiative is part of Rotary’s efforts to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, and is being implemented under the “Together for Healthy Family in Nigeria” (PoS) project, which is ongoing in Ekiti, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Gombe and Nasarawa states.

Speaking at one of the centres, the Mai Unguwa of London Mai Dorawa, Mallam Adamu Ishiyaku Garba, commended Rotary International for bringing healthcare services closer to the people, while the District Head of Liji, Mallam Umar Abdullahi, also expressed appreciation for the free services.

A total of 48 healthcare personnel, including nurses, midwives, Community Health Officers (CHOs), Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs), and other technical staff, participated in the outreach, alongside key stakeholders and members of the Rotary Club of Kaltungo.

The Rotary representative in Gombe State, Mohammed Dantata Ndus, commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the Commissioner for Health, Dr Habu Dahiru, for their support, as beneficiaries across the communities expressed gratitude for the services.
