The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS), Hon. Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, has called on members of the Professional Women Accountants of Nigeria (PROWAN), Delta State 2 Branch, to inspire society through exemplary conduct and unwavering professionalism.
Ighrakpata made the call on Thursday when he received the newly inaugurated executive members of the association on a familiarisation visit to the Delta State Internal Revenue Service.
He urged the members to continually uphold the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and professional excellence, stressing that professionals must always lead by example in both public and private life.
While commending PROWAN for its contributions to the accounting profession, he encouraged the association to remain focused on its objectives and continue to support the expansion of the state's tax net through the application of sound accounting principles and professional ethics.
According to him, the expertise of professional accountants remains critical to promoting transparency, accountability, and improved internally generated revenue, all of which are essential for sustainable development in Delta State.
Earlier in her remarks, the Delta State 2 Coordinator of PROWAN, Mrs. Bridget Uwekahwevwe, said the visit was aimed at familiarising the newly elected executive members with the leadership of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service and reaffirming the association's commitment to supporting the agency in achieving its revenue generation goals.
She explained that PROWAN is the women’s wing of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), established to provide a distinct professional network for female Certified National Accountants (CNAs), with a focus on promoting gender inclusion, mentorship, leadership development, and professional growth.
Mrs. Uwekahwevwe noted that the association is committed to strengthening the accounting profession by promoting ethical standards, accountability, and efficiency in both the public and private sectors.
She further stated that PROWAN is providing a stronger voice for women in the accounting profession in an increasingly digital world while complementing the efforts of ANAN in advancing sound accounting principles and good governance across institutions where its members serve.
